It’s been said before, and it’s still true: Texas isn’t a red state; it’s a non-voting state.
Thankfully, that’s changing and fast. More than one million Texans registered in the 2016 election cycle, and the majority of them are Democrats. Because of these new registrants, Texas is now a single-digit state.
Building the infrastructure needed to register, engage, and mobilize these and millions of voters will take thousands of committed, well-trained volunteer leaders -- grassroots organizers -- in every corner of the state. That’s why we’ve developed the GrassRoots Organizer (GRO) program.
If you’re a precinct chair, a club leader, or a volunteer looking to step up their game, the GRO program is for you. As a GRO, you’ll:
- Get the tools you need to organize your community with block walks, phone banks, house parties, and more
- Learn how to train new volunteers as a member of the Texas Democratic Training Corps
- Receive access to TexasVAN through your county party or the Texas Democratic Party
- Get access to the Texas Democratic Party’s campaign toolkit
The Democratic Party isn’t an office in Washington, D.C. or Austin. The Democratic Party is made up of your friends, your family, your neighbors -- and you.
Local activists are the backbone of our party. We win when every neighborhood has hard-working activists organizing every neighborhood. Join the GRO program and help deliver a powerful Democratic message into every neighborhood across the state.
